Königsee Implantate GmbH Achieves Milestones in Eco-Friendly Medical Technology with “GreenImplant” Concept and Earns EMAS Certification

Königsee Implantate GmbH has successfully obtained certification under the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), highlighting its commitment to environmental protection and sustainability in the medical technology industry.

EMAS is a voluntary instrument of the European Union that assists companies and organizations in managing their environmental impacts, continuously improving, and transparently reporting on their environmental performance. Companies validating under EMAS commit to setting environmental goals, implementing environmental management systems, and conducting regular environmental audits. Participation in EMAS demonstrates their responsibility for environmental protection and sustainability in a verifiable manner. EMAS goes beyond mere compliance with environmental regulations by encouraging companies to proactively set environmental goals and continuously minimize their environmental impacts. It is a significant tool for companies aiming to enhance their environmental performance to the highest standards.

Königsee Implantate’s environmental programs include various strategic measures and projects:

  1. Introduction of Renewable Energies: Actively investing in renewable energies such as solar power to increase the share of environmentally friendly energy in the overall energy consumption, emphasizing the company’s commitment to a sustainable energy future.
  2. Optimization of Production Processes: Striving for more efficient resource utilization and minimizing environmental impacts through continuous process optimization, with a central role played by the implementation of energy-efficient technologies.
  3. Water Management: Implementing effective measures to reduce water consumption and prevent water waste, including advanced water treatment facilities and efficient water usage in production processes.
  4. Waste Management: Comprehensive programs for waste minimization, including the introduction of recycling and reusing practices, aiming to reduce overall waste and ensure environmentally friendly waste disposal.
  5. Promotion of Sustainable Mobility: Supporting sustainable corporate mobility by promoting the use of electric vehicles. The creation of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles is also an integral part of this program.

Beyond the company’s premises, Königsee Implantate is actively engaged in environmental initiatives:

  • Insect Hotels: Biodiversity Commitment – Erected two insect hotels in the solar park as part of efforts to minimize environmental impacts and promote biodiversity. Notably, these insect hotels were crafted by individuals with special needs at a workshop, emphasizing not only our environmental commitment but also our social responsibility.
  • Wildflower Meadows: A Colorful Oasis for Nature – Apprentices of the company created wildflower meadows within the solar park to transform the surroundings of our production facilities into habitats for plants, insects, and other animals. These meadows are not only aesthetically pleasing but also ecologically valuable, providing food and habitat for bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects. Our apprentices actively participated in designing and maintaining these wildflower meadows, fostering their awareness of environmental issues.
  • Tree Planting Initiatives: Making a Green Statement – Long-term commitment to the environment through tree planting on company premises and in our corporate forest. The planted trees contribute to CO2 absorption and promote ecological balance. A special highlight was a tree planting initiative during a company anniversary, where guests presented trees as symbolic gifts. These donated trees not only express appreciation but also strengthen our connection to the community. Membership in “Baumpaten-Thüringen” underscores our commitment to tree protection and promotion beyond corporate boundaries. These initiatives illustrate our dedication to environmental protection and sustainable practices both within and outside our company borders.

All environmental programs of Königsee Implantate undergo regular review and adjustment to current circumstances. The effectiveness of the programs is ensured through internal audits and management assessments within the framework of EMAS certification. Continuous monitoring allows us to demonstrate that defined environmental goals have been achieved and environmental impacts are continuously reduced by Königsee Implantate.
